This variable speed lawn mower features Cub Cadet's "My Speed" drive system which engages once the handle is pushed forward; if the operator walks faster, the handle is automatically pushed further forward and thus the speed of the mower increases; if the operator walks more slowly, the handle is pivoting back and the unit slows down; if the operator stops walking, the lever automatically moves to neutral and the unit stands still.

The cutting height can be adjusted centrally through six positions between 28mm and 92mm.
