Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Policy

Buying a new electrical item from us?

We will recycle the one you're replacing for free. It must be a like for like item. For example, if you purchase an electric lawnmower, we will dispose of your old electric lawnmower.
Simply bring the old electrical item to us, within 28 days, show us the receipt for its replacement and we will do the rest.

Alternatively, dispose of your electrical items at your local household waste site. You can find local recycling points for your old electricals by clicking on this link:

https://www.recycleyourelectricals.org.uk/

Why is this so important?

We have been proud to have been part of the WEEE campaign since 2013. From January 2021, the Waste Electrical and Electronic (WEEE) Directive implemented the Retailer Take-Back Scheme. Retailers of electrical items were asked to think very seriously about how they help customers buying new electrical equipment, to recycle their old electrical items and indeed how we process WEEE.

It was astonishing to learn that the average household in the UK currently throws away 20 electrical items every year, and millions of gadgets are gathering dust unused and unwanted in cupboards and garages across the country.

Recycling and reusing unwanted electrical or electronics can help save the planet, boost the economy and improve lives. Not only that, electrical and electronic equipment (EEE) contains materials, parts and substances which can be dangerous to the environment and harmful to human health if not disposed of correctly.

Electrical and electronic equipment is now the fastest growing waste stream in the UK and across the world.
Discover the impact of reusing and recycling your electricals here: www.recycleyourelectricals.org.uk.

What can I recycle?

Anything with a plug, battery or cable can be recycled or reused! The materials from recycled electricals can be used in everything from children's playgrounds to lifesaving equipment, while donated tech can help bridge the digital divide.

You will find this symbol on all your electrical items. Recycle your old electricals, rather than binning them.

We are proud to be helping to reduce electrical waste.
Together we can make our world a cleaner place.
